In 2022 the city centre of Utrecht gained a new movie theater called Slachtstraat Filmtheater. Together with Louis Hartlooper Complex and Springhaver Theater, the cinema forms a creative centre where one can find a combination of movie screenings, events, courses and lectures.
To stimulate this expression of creativity, starting the summer of 2023 the art house added the new concept of 'Slacht Zomernacht' to their program - a musical event where small artists and performers are given a stage to showcase their repertory and where the audience gets together to listen, dance and enjoy a drink or bite.
Summer feeling
Focused on the summery but cozy vibe, the vision of the design for the monthly summer series swiftly came to life. The laid-back charm with warm, inviting hues captures the essence of a tranquil summer evening, showcasing a fusion of musical notes, drinks and charming living room ambiance. The typography adds a playful touch, echoing the evening's welcoming ambiance and complementing the artistic style of the poster.
Slacht Zomernacht has proven to be the perfect get together to feature interactivity, individuality, as well as inclusiveness. Because of the enthusiasm and participation of both performers and audience, the second and third editions followed soon after the first. For each issue, the hues and colours have been adjusted to match the unique musical style of the evening. Whether it's the cool, calming blues for a jazz-inspired night or the vibrant, energetic tones for a lively pop performance, every poster exudes a blend of colours that resonate with the essence of the music.
The team of Slachtstraat Filmtheater intends to make this an annual summer season celebration with room for even more talent to showcase the creative heart of the city with many more editions to come.
